Many reform movements such as the women's suffrage rights, the abolitionist movements, and the labor movements gained momentum during the 19th century which brought around lots of political changes. People of color gained many rights and some were freed from slavery as calls for abolition grew, women began fighting for the right to vote, and many new progressive policies became law.
